The journey of medical science not only involves acquiring knowledge from all available sources- teachers, books, periodicals, journals, etc. but an intricate interaction with the patients and their attendants too. However, in my medical training and practice, I found this aspect of a detailed two-way communication was often ignored or was restricted to a one-way flow of orders from the doctors to the patients. My observation was that the doctors were often too burdened with time to have an effective conversation and patients were usually skeptical about asking too many questions. The scenario motivated me in my early clinical practice to have a detailed interaction with each person who walked in my Centre to have my consultation. A few years down the line, I found that even after having dispelled the doubts of patients satisfactorily, many new surfaced in their minds on further visits or they needed a revision of the instructions each time. That prompted me to hand them over a ready reckoner sort of book which can put away all the uncertainties in their mind. They can go through an interesting read of commonly raised doubts, questions that they are afraid to ask, medical awareness of their diets, their optimal values of blood sugar, blood pressure, BMI, lipid profile, etc., desired intake of fats, oils, vitamins, etc. The book is written in Q&A format, which makes it easy to understand and follow. Also, there is a dedicated section, which talks about delicious heart-healthy recipes. This special section is written by Dr. Suruchi Aditya. I am sure that this book will add value to the readers.
